Welcome to The Lighthouse at Knoxville College. Keeping in step with the traditions set before it by Elnathan Hall, The Lighthouse strives to promote a concept of anticipation and participation in service of the surrounding school districts and local community.

Knoxville College is embedded in a rich history of opportunity and education, therefore, The Lighthouse adheres to these same ideals by providing a variety of after school programs and a gathering space for various events and purposes. The agenda of The Lighthouse is to be an art education oasis by providing spaces for art exhibits, music events, community meetings, and educational spaces. In order to achieve this goal The Lighthouse also provides short term hostel and long term loft style housing that are leased based around a symbiotic rate schema. This provides a place for tourists to enjoy old North Knoxville and Mechanicsville, as well as, room and board for a variety of educators in the art community.

The ground floor provides an open public space that can be programed by the community. The goal is to give the community a feeling of ownership and agency within this space. There are more private studios for lease on the second floor for residents or locals. The second and third floors are more private and provide dining and residential space. The top floor of The Lighthouse is historically an attic space that has been converted in to a selected works and digital library. This attic space has been opened up in order to provide views of the campus and a light breezy atmosphere for repose.

The Lighthouse provides a place for kids of all ages to channel time and energy into a variety of artistic mediums. The site and plan provide flexibility for the building to change with the growing needs of the community and campus.
